Orion's Belt
Orion's belt is a typical action film, mixed with thriller, and is considered the first modern Norwegian action film. The film was financed by a limited partnership. The company made it possible to make Norwegian films in several ways with the help of state support. The producers set up the limited partnership KS Orion Film AS in collaboration with the actors. They invested their own money to get started. The scheme was adapted to the film industry by a brokerage firm that used ideas from the shipping industry. The company had to take this risk because the public support was not enough for such a large project.
The story is a terrific political thriller from the Cold War era and one of Jon Michelet's best-known and best-read books. The three adventurers Lars, Sverre and Tom are used to operating on both sides of the law to earn a few pennies. On board the tiny freighter Sandy Hook, they head for the "island of inaccessibility" to shoot a polar bear or two. But on the deserted Kvitøya, one of the superpowers has placed a secret weapon. The Karen must fight and run for their lives when they are attacked by a Soviet helicopter. This is just the start of a game involving players far more powerful than the three could ever dream of.
